We didn't write another set of guidelines. We made culture tangible.

Canopy helps social purpose organisations measure, manage and improve their impact. As the business continued to grow, it wanted to strengthen its internal culture by making its values more visible across a distributed team. While the organisation had clearly defined values, they weren't always being experienced or recognised in day-to-day working life.

Working alongside the Canopy team, we developed Value in Action—an internal engagement campaign designed to celebrate behaviours, encourage peer recognition and make company culture something people could actively participate in rather than simply read about.

Challenge

Building a strong culture becomes increasingly difficult as organisations grow and teams become more dispersed. Like many businesses, Canopy had a clear set of organisational values, but there was no consistent way for employees to recognise, celebrate or reinforce those behaviours in everyday work.

The challenge wasn't to redesign the values themselves. It was to create an internal campaign that would bring those values to life, encourage participation and help strengthen connection across a team that rarely works together in the same physical space.

Approach

Rather than creating another set of internal guidelines, we designed a campaign that transformed company values into something tangible and rewarding. At the heart of the campaign was Value in Action, a quarterly recognition programme built around collecting beautifully designed enamel pin badges, each representing one of Canopy's core values.

To support the campaign, we created a complete suite of branded assets including the visual identity, campaign graphics, certificates, collector cards, reward stickers, gift cards and supporting communications. Every element was designed to reinforce recognition while encouraging conversation and participation across the organisation.

By turning recognition into something physical, visible and enjoyable, the campaign helped move company values beyond documentation and into everyday behaviour, creating regular moments of celebration that strengthened team engagement.

Outcome

Value in Action provided Canopy with more than an internal recognition programme—it created a lasting campaign that helps make organisational culture visible. The combination of thoughtful campaign branding, physical rewards and engaging communications encouraged employees to celebrate one another while reinforcing the behaviours that define the organisation.

The project demonstrates how creative campaign design can strengthen internal communications, improve employee engagement and help organisations build culture intentionally rather than leaving it to chance. As recognition became more visible, conversations increased and stronger connections developed across a team that rarely meets face to face.

Capabilities

This project combined campaign strategy, branding, internal communications and employee engagement to help Canopy transform its organisational values into an experience that employees could see, share and celebrate. By designing a campaign around recognition rather than documentation, we helped make culture more visible, more engaging and more meaningful across a distributed workforce.

The bigger picture.

Culture doesn't grow because values exist on a page. It grows when people can see them, celebrate them and experience them together. Recognition becomes far more powerful when it's made visible.
